RootRain X2 is a larger irrigation and aeration system for trees in urban areas where non-permeable pavements are used.
As the tree grows, the root system expands and outgrows the original tree hole. An irrigation bag or a small underground irrigation and aeration system is no longer able to provide water and oxygen for the entire root system. With a diameter of approx. 4 m, RootRain X2 looks after the expanding root system until the tree has reached the age when the roots have settled and can take care of themselves.
RootRain X2 is usually used together with the StrataCell system, but it can also be used in places where the StrataCell system is not necessary.
RootRain X2 is compatible with the RootRain PRCS and PRC system lids.
RootRain X2 allows expanding roots to grow in a healthy manner.
Although new trees are cared after by irrigation/aeration, the roots of older trees can encounter serious trouble if their development in growth areas is not accounted for.
The roots of an ordinary city tree expand radically during a couple of good growth years, which means that a much larger irrigation system may be needed than what was installed during the planting. Roots may begin to experience difficulties in growing well in places where the subsoil is relatively difficult to permeate, because they cannot get enough water and oxygen anymore.
This problem can be solved by using the RootRain X2, which can be installed during planting or later as the need arises.
